Cleburne State Park

Some of the most popular activities in the park include hiking and biking, camping, fishing, swimming, and boating. Due to this low speed limit, Cedar Lake is a favorite for canoeing, kayaking, and rafting.

History:

This part of Texas has a very interesting history. The area was used as hunting ground for the Comanche Native American tribe. The land was bought from the city of Cleburne, Texas in 1939 and became a state park.

Cedar Lake:

Cedar Lake in Cleburne State Park is a 116-acre lake with clear blue water. Boating is allowed on Cedar Lake but the speed is restricted to 5 mph to protect the park's tranquility. Boaters are not allowed to leave wake on the water. Many park guests enjoy fishing in Cedar Lake. The lake contains crappie, bass, catfish, bluegill, and sunfish.

Park Facilities:

Cleburne State Park offers a dining hall, restrooms, hot showers, amphitheater, playgrounds, picnic areas, dining hall, RV hook-ups, and a baseball field. The park also offers a kitchen with a cook stove, a refrigerator, sink, cabinets, and electric outlets.

Camping:

The camp sites at Cleburne State Park each have a picnic table, a grill, a campfire ring, and showers with hot water. The park also has facilities for group camping. These facilities have twin beds. Each group camping area sleeps up to 44 people and is heated in the winter.

Cleburne State Park is a great park for animal lovers. The park is habitat for deer, wild turkey, squirrels, bobcats, coyote, rabbits and many more.

Cleburne State Park is heavily wooded with a huge variety of trees, bushes, shrubs, and other plants. Some of the flora in the park includes cedar, oak, mesquite, cottonwood, and sycamore.

Coyote Run Nature Trail is a 2 mile round trip on the north side of Cedar Lake.

Cleburn State Park Spillway Hiking Trail:

White-tail Hollow Trail:
White-Tail Hollow Trail is a 3.2 mile round trip on the east side of Cedar Lake.

Cedar Lake Loop:
Cedar Lake Loop is a 1 mile loop on the east side of Cedar Lake.

Fossil Ridge Trail:
Fossil Ridge Trail is a 3.5 mile round trip on the south side of Cedar Lake.

Whispering Meadow Trail:
Whispering Meadow Trail is a 1.7 mile round trip on the north-west side of Cedar Lake.

Camp Creek Loop:
Camp Creek Loop is a 1.3 mile loop east of Cedar Lake near the baseball field.
