History:
Opened in 1962, Six Flags Over Texas was the first out of the many Six Flags
Amusement Parks across the United States that we enjoy today. The name Six Flags
refers to the six countries that have governed over Texas, France, Spain, Mexico,
The Republic of Texas, The Confederate States of America, and the United States
of America. This history can still be seen today in the way the park rides are
divided up. The Original 7 sections of Six Flags Over Texas include Texas,
Spain Mexico, France, USA, Old South (originally the Confederacy), and Star
Mall. These sections each have rides, attraction, and buildings themed toward
their respective location. Over the next 40 years 4 more sections were added;
Boomtown, Tower, Goodtimes Square, Looney Tunes USA, and Gotham City. Although
the themes change from section to section, the overall theme of the park is
Looney Tunes (all Six Flags Parks are Looney Tunes themed).
