Canyon Lake, a reservoir created by canyon dam, is located a few miles away from New Braunfels,
near San Antonio Texas. Canyon Lake is over 8,000 acres and is considered by some to be one of
the most scenic lakes in Texas. Canyon Lake has around 80 miles of coast line, much of which is
near the Guadalupe River.
Canyon Lake Recreation:
This lake is a popular New Braunfels area attraction for swimming,
scuba diving, boating, and much more. Canyon Lake is also a popular Texas fishing hot spot.
The Canyon Lake fish population is predominantly largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, Guadalupe bass,
white bass, striped bass, and catfish. Since 1965 Canyon Lake has been stocked with over
14.4 million bass, catfish, crappie, and walleye.
Canyon Lake Parks:
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers built and maintains Canyon Lake, Canyon Dam, and eight public parks
along the lake shore. The eight Canyon Lake parks are Canyon Park & Beach, Comal Park, Crane's Mill Park,
Guadalupe Park, Jacob's Creek Park, North Park, Overlook Park, and Potter's Creek Park.
Canyon Park:
Canyon Park Road is a large park on the northeast shore of Canyon Lake. This park can be reached
on Canyon Park Road. In this park you can find the Hill Country Yacht Club and the Lucky Sailor Oyster Bar,
Comal Park:
Canyon Park Road is a small park on the south shore of Canyon Lake.This park can be reached
on Comal Park Road. Canyon Park Campground is located just east of this park.
Cranes Mill Park:
Canyon Park Road is a large park on the south shore of Canyon Lake.This park can be reached
on Cranes Mill Park Rod. At the north end of this park is the Cranes Mill Mrina.
Jacobs Creek Park:
Jacobs Creek Park is a very small park a little ways off the north shore of Canyon Lake. Randolph
Recreaation Park is located in Jacobs Creek Park.
North Park:
Canyon Park Road is a small park on the east shore of Canyon Lake.This park can be reached
on N Park Road.
Overlook Park:
Canyon Park Road is a small park on the east shore of Canyon Lake.This park can be reached
on Vekeda Real Walkwy and Corps of Engineers Road. This park has one of the best views of the lake.
Potters Creek:
Potters Creek Park is a large park on the north shore of Canyon Lake. This park can be reached
on Potters Creek Road. Potters Creek Store and Restaurant is located on the west end of the park.
