San Antonio Zoo:

San Antonio Zoo covers 56-acres and has over 3,500 animals. Some of the most unique and interesting of these animals are the African lion, the cheetah, the grizzly bear, and the Eurasian eagle owl. San Antonio Zoo also offers several exhibits including, the African exhibit, the Amazonia exhibit, the butterfly exhibit, the cranes exhibit, the Gibbon Forest, the Hixon Bird House, Kronkoskys Tiny Tot, Lory Landing, Prairie Chickens, and Toad Ally.

Kronkoskys Tiny Tot:

Kronkoskys Tiny Tot is a great place to bring the children. This area includes exhibit rooms, a pond area, a garden area, and several other attractions. A couple of the favorites are the giant sloth and the giant tortoise shells.

Lory Landing:

This San Antonio Zoo exhibit is modeled after an Australian rainforest. In this area guests will have a chance to see and even feed lorikeets. Lorikeets are parrot like birds indigenous to Australia.

Africa Live & African Plains:

In the San Antonio Zoo Africa Live exhibit, guests will experience the wilds of Africa up close. This exhibit features the plants, animals, and habitats, and even people of Africa. Some of the animals that can be seen in the Africa Live water exhibit include hippos, crocodiles, and African cichlids. The Africa Live exhibit also features the Nanyuki Market, a street modeled after a real African market street. This market street has restrooms, gift shops, and more. Africa Live also offers tours, educational stations, and several other attractions.

In the San Antonio Zoo African Plains exhibit, guests will experience a different side of Africa. This exhibit has an African style water hole and all the animals that you might expect to be gathered around it in Africa. The authentic African landscape includes shrubs, grassland, limestone cliffs, and a rocky pool. Some of the animals that can be viewed from this exhibit include ostriches, zebras, giraffes, African crowned cranes, ducks, gazelles, an antelopes.

Amazonia:

This San Antonio Zoo exhibit is made to resemble a tropical Amazonian setting. In this exhibit guests can view tropical animals such as monkeys, pygmy marmosets, sloth, and giant anteaters. Guests can also feed the fish in the Amazonian water display. Some of the more rare and exciting animals on display in the Amazonia exhibit include wild cats like the jaguar and ocelot, venomous reptiles, and birds such as macaws and the giant Andean condor. This exhibit also features many rare tropical plants.

Butterflies:

In this exhibit, guests will walk into a world of butterflies. You will be surrounded by hundreds of them. The most surprising thing about the Butterflies exhibit is the approachability of these butterflies. You really get up close with these beautiful creatures.

Cranes of the World:

This San Antonio Zoo exhibit features several species of cranes including the famous whooping crane, the blue crane, and the Manchurian crane. The Cranes of the World exhibit can be enjoyed from a boardwalk along a beautiful river.

Gibbon Forest:

In this educational exhibit, guests will have the opportunity to view gibbons in a forest setting. Gibbons are small ape like primates. This is a very fascinating exhibit.

Hixon Bird House:

This giant circular building encloses birds from all over the world. Some of the birds in this San Antonio Zoo exhibit include roadrunners, owls, sun bitterns, Egyptian plovers, Inca terns, and quetzals.
